Your individual taste and needs may be different, however; within Barker & Canady offering there surely will be a home that fits your needs, with or without modification, perfectly. There were other builders showing magnificent homes, some more costly, some less, but the reason we chose to go with Barker & Canady and not one of those others is the interface with Tom Canady from day one. It was abundantly clear that Tom was dedicated to doing a precise and careful job of building just the house we needed with personal supervision all along the way. Tom sold us on himself and we made that decision because his approach to clients is the same as Nancy and I use with our client base. Total integrity. Our house is now complete and we are about to move in. Building a custom home at a distance of 650 miles is indeed a daunting experience, but Tom Canady and his wife Angie made the selection process for all the options rather organized and not too stressful. Jim Dunham our project supervisor was truly inspired in his putting our expressed needs and wants into concrete, wood, and glass. Certainly there were small roadblocks along the way, some small items needed redoing before closing, some checklist items needing to be addressed but all along we had the support of Tom and his group and they never wavered from the need to "get it done right". Surely there are other good builders for you to choose from, other outstanding homes to build, but the real thing that we will always remember about our experience with Barker & Canady and Tom Canady as the leader is the total integrity with which he completed our project. Tom is an honest man, a man of his word, and he was patient, flexible and supportive throughout this experience. Little changes along the way and items we identified during the walk-through were handled quickly and we found the sub-contractors to be responsive and helpful. 		Don and Cheryl McGuire St. James Plantation Lot 132 - Founders Club "From the time we came out of our interview with Tom Canady, nearly a year previous before we were able to give the go ahead and start construction, we knew it was going to be a good relationship with Barker & Canady. We had interviewed several builders after we purchased our property at St. James and Tom Canady was the one we chose. My wife and I had chosen a plan for our new home that would require working closely with an architect and builder. B&C hooked us up with a very understanding architect, Brad Thorne, in Raleigh, NC who took our ideas and put them into working plans. The next positive thing that Tom Canady did was introduce us to our project manager, Nick Woehr. Nick would oversee our project from the time the first shovel of dirt until we reviewed the final check off list before our settlement. Nick is an exceptional young man. When ever anything came up he would call and touch base with us whether it was for more fill or that we needed to move a wall. All change orders were handled with no major problems. From the start of the project, Nick kept us on schedule and the house was finished ahead of schedule. Building a new home is hard from 7 hours away and you need someone on site you can trust. I always felt the entire B&C team was working in our best interest. Through the entire process Nick was able to balance the requirements of his boss, the POA, the county and as well as keep me up to date as to what was going on. One final point is that after we moved in we received many comments from our neighbors on how clean and neat the contstruction site was kept throughout the process. This is a tribute to B&C and the entire staff for having such high standards to maintain. We have lived in our house for about 3 months and want everybody to know we have enjoyed the experience and thank the entire staff at B&C notably Tom and especially Nick. I truly believe we made the right choice and would recommend B&C to anyone going into this venture."
