Tom graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor of Science in 1976. He has extensive experience with a Fortune 500 Company for over 17 years. With his partner and friend Phillip Barker, Tom formed Barker and Canady Custom Homes, Inc. and developed a quality home business focused primarily in Southeastern North Carolina. Barker and Canady specializes in building fine custom homes of distinction. We operate a hands on operation to give clients a personal touch with on-site attention. Our reputation is one of building homes as if they were our own!

Phillip Barker

Phillip Barker is a 1980 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a B.S. in Business Administration. For over 20 years, as President of Phillip R. Barker Builders, Inc., he has built over 300 fine custom homes ranging in price from $300,000 to over $1,000,000 in the Raleigh and Triangle area. Phillip has won several Parade of Homes awards due to his fine custom homes with unsurpassed quality and uncompromised style and creativity.
In 2003, he moved Phillip R. Barker Builders, Inc. exclusively to Wilmington to continue the tradition of fine custom homes with the utmost attention to customer needs. Phillip also started another building company with partner and friend Tom Canady known as Barker and Canady Custom Homes. This company was put together to take advantage of the tremendous home building opportunities in Southeastern North Carolina. Phillip Barker has become known as one of the most highly respected custom home builders due to the exceptional quality of homes and Phillip’s personal attention to each customer.

James Calverley

Jim Calverley is a Construction Manager for Barker and Canady Custom Homes, Inc. Jim graduated from the University of Houston while serving in the United States Airforce. Jim relocated to North Carolina and has been in the construction industry for the past 17 years. He has a distinguished career directing the development of both commercial and residential projects. Jim also has outstanding organizational skills which have proven to be critical in the Custom Home building.

Nick Woehr
Construction Manager
Nick Woehr is a UNCW college graduate in Business Management. He has over 13 years hands on experience in residential custom home building. Nick's expertise in interior trim, exterior trim, and framing makes him truly a wonderful asset to Barker and Canady Custom Homes, Inc.

Construction Manager
Todd Lewis attended UNCW and served 5 years in the U.S. Navy. He has over 15 years residential construction experience with excellent customer relations. Todd is a quality asset to Barker and Canady Custom Homes, Inc.

Bridget DelMese
Office Manager/Sales
Bridget has been with Barker & Canady over 6 years. She was born in Huntington, New York and has been in the accounting field over 13 years. Bridget helps to streamline the process of all construction loans from processing to closing and handles all customer/bank payments. She also keeps customers updated photos on the website of their homes throughout the construction process.

Jennifer Kelly
Director of Marketing / Sales
Jennifer Kelly started her career in 1997, where she served as both a Sales Assistant and Telemarketing Director for St. James Plantation, a 3,000 acre golf and boating community in Southport, North Carolina. After two years of building and managing a team of sales, marketing and telemarketing assistants, Jennifer joined Resort Management Associates (RMA) at Haig Point on Daufuskie Island, where she served as both a Marketing Director and Closing Coordinator from 1998-1999.
In the spring of 2000, Jennifer transferred with RMA to take on the role of Director of Marketing and operations for a resort community in Palm Coast, Florida. She continued supporting Florida, the mountains of North Carolina and Bahamas communities over the next 5 years where she continued to expand and manage the marketing and sales department.
In 2006, Jennifer joined ESI Living as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing to handle implementation of annual sales and marketing budgets, promote inquiry and tour conversions and to assist in operational details and definition. She opened four International sales and marketing offices and led fifteen within the United States. Jennifer currently resides in Wilmington, North Carolina with her husband and two children
